BREAKING: VICTORY! California scores a massive win against Trump as an appeals court rejects the Republican attempt to block the state’s new Congressional maps.

The blue wave is coming…

“Republicans’ weak attempt to silence voters failed. California voters overwhelmingly supported Prop 50 – to respond to Trump’s rigging in Texas – and that is exactly what this court conclude,” Governor Gavin Newsom stated.

Proposition 50 was brought before the California electorate in response to blatant gerrymandering efforts in Texas that were requested by Trump and designed to dilute the franchise of Black and Latino voters to create more Republican seats in Congress.

“Californians overwhelmingly voted in favor of Proposition 50. Today’s decision upholds the will of the people. It also means that, to date, every single challenge against Proposition 50 has failed,” said California Attorney General Rob Bonta. “I couldn’t be prouder of my team for successfully defending this ballot initiative in court on behalf of Governor Newsom and Secretary of State Weber. We remain confident in the legality of Proposition 50.”

In their failed attempt to block Prop 50, Republicans absurdly tried to argue that the initiative violated the Voting Rights Act (which ironically many Republicans want to overturn). They argued that the move would unfairly advantage Hispanic and Latino voters, playing directly into MAGA fever dream concerns about a supposed “white genocide. Democrats were able to point to an independent analysis which showed that there will be no increase to the number of Latino-majority districts.

“The United States fails to show that the voters acted with discriminatory intent,” wrote Judge Josephine Staton.

“We find that Challengers have failed to show that racial gerrymandering occurred, and we conclude that there is no basis for issuing a preliminary injunction,” Staton added. “Our conclusion probably seems obvious to anyone who followed the news in the summer and fall of 2025.”
