An Indiana mother and three daughters tragically lost their lives in what appears to be murder-suicide.
The bodies of Rebecca Hughes, 32, and the three children, Evelyn Newell, 8, Allison Newell, 6, and Amelia Newell, 5, were discovered following a welfare check.
According to the statement issued by the Indiana State Police, “On September 17, 2024, at approximately 11:20 a.m., officers with the Wolcottville Police Department were dispatched to conduct a welfare check at a residence in the 100 block of South Main Street in Wolcottville, IN. While at this residence officers located a deceased adult female and three children that were also deceased. After making this discovery, the Indiana State Police was contacted.

Further, they said “there is not a threat to the public.”
The exact cause of death is yet to be determied.
The children’s father, Jonathan Newell, has set a GoFundMe page to help him with the funeral costs.
