Newlywed was killed by a man wielding a machete while working at a Dollar Tree

Tragedy struck when 22-year-old newlywed Keris Riebel was brutally killed by a man wielding a machete at the Dollar Tree store in Upper Sandusky, Ohio. The incident occurred at 1120 Wyandot Ave. around 4:25 p.m., and Riebel was pronounced dead upon arrival of the authorities.

The assailant, 27-year-old Bethel Bekele, was later apprehended near the Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office and charged with murder. The motive behind the killing remains unknown, and it is uncertain whether the victim and the perpetrator had any prior connection.

The community mourns the loss of Riebel, a recent bride, described as a “wonderful spirit with a faith-filled heart.” Her family initiated a GoFundMe campaign to assist with funeral expenses.

Riebel, a Bachelor of Science graduate in Human Resources, had aspirations of starting a family with her husband and getting a pet. The tragedy has left her loved ones devastated, and the community hopes for justice to be served.
