Courtney Hadwin, an English singer-songwriter, was just 13 years old when she gave this performance. The kid displayed her talents during this performance during the first live round of America’s Got Talent Season 13 in 2018.
No one could tell if Courtney was tense. With her rendition of James Brown’s Papa’s Got a Brand New Bag, Hadwin commanded the stage. Her singing prowess wasn’t her only talent, though. She enthralled the audience with her dancing as well.
The adolescent received a standing ovation from all four judges, including Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum, Mel B, and Simon Cowell, who is notoriously difficult to please. Hadwin nearly seemed taken aback by how well people responded to her.
Later, she tweeted,
“Wow what a night, @AGT @howiemandel #AGT13 #wow feeling grateful, it has been an experience I will never forget.”
Actually, Hadwin ought to be accustomed to dazzle audiences with her voice by this point. When she played Otis Redding’s Hard to Handle on June 12, she had a similar response. Her first tryout for America’s Got Talent was that one.
The path Hadwin took was not without debate. After hearing that the singer just performed on The Voice Kids UK, another singing competition show, some fans were offended. A few others vented their concerns on Twitter.
One admirer wrote,
“Last year, Simon served as a judge on Britain’s The Voice Kids, where Courtney Hadwin competed. Why, especially given that it pops up when you research her, wasn’t that mentioned?”
However, the show’s administrators claim that Hadwin, who was born in the UK, is quite qualified to take part.
According to an AGT representative, “International acts are eligible to participate in the initial ‘AGT’ auditions on tourist visas.”
“AGT helps with artists to get proper performer visas, giving acts authorization to perform throughout the series, if selected to progress to the program live concerts.”
The fact that Hadwin had competed in another event didn’t seem to bother other supporters. Following Hadwin’s performance, many people even praised him on Twitter.
