Campbell’s soup disappearing from shelves, consumers scramble to find pantry staple

In 2018, Campbell’s closed its Toronto facility, cutting 400 jobs. Recently, UK consumers were shocked to find favorite soups, like condensed tomato soup, missing from shelves, leading one shopper to say, “I’ve been to EVERY major supermarket… and… NOTHING!”

Some flavors have been discontinued worldwide, including Green Pea Soup, featured in Andy Warhol’s famous collection. To adapt to health trends, Campbell’s is restructuring, closing facilities in Texas and Oregon while shifting focus to other products like Prego pasta sauce.

Despite downsizing, Campbell’s is also expanding, investing $230 million to create jobs in several U.S. states. Though not shutting down entirely, Campbell’s is refocusing its efforts to align with changing consumer demands.
