On the episode of Sunday Today that aired on December 4, the cross-genre talent explained what it was like to welcome son Hayes Andrew in March 2020 as the world was shutting down, experiencing quarantine while struggling with postpartum depression. The conversation took place with Willie Geist.
The singer admitted, “I think there were a lot of identity issues that took place there.”

She was reeling from the effects of that, and she was trying to find the big picture within the details. But more than that, just being aware of my own value, even without applause from others.”
The “Middle” singer, who is 32 years old, and her husband, fellow musician Ryan Hurd, are the parents of Hayes, who is now 212 years old.
