The Prince and Princess of Wales provided a demonstration of Prince George’s artistic abilities in front of the public.
On Christmas Day, the Prince and Princess of Wales, who are both 40 years old, adorned their holiday greetings on Twitter and Instagram with a festive painting of a reindeer that was created by their oldest son, Prince George, who is nine years old.
The watercolor painting included a title that said, “Happy Christmas! by George,” and it depicted a reindeer standing in the snow with birds perched on its antlers and back.
Painting ability has been passed down through the royal line, all the way from the late Prince Philip through King Charles III, and now to George.
The King, who is 74 years old, is well-known for his watercolors, many of which depict royal palaces such as Highgrove in Gloucestershire, England, and Balmoral Castle in Scotland.
Although it was only estimated to be worth around $675, the print of Charles’ picture of Balmoral that was sold at auction in October brought in about $6,500.
A few hours before the royal family’s annual Christmas morning stroll to church services at Sandringham in Norfolk, Prince George’s painting of a reindeer was made public.
Along with his parents and younger siblings, Princess Charlotte, 7, and Prince Louis, 4, George made his first public appearance on foot over the Christmas season by walking inside St. Mary Magdalene Church.
