Years after his passing, the memory of Steve Irwin is kept alive by his offspring, including his children and grandkids.
On Sunday, which was also the 16th anniversary of the loss of the Crocodile Hunter star, Bindi Irwin and her brother Robert Irwin paid homage to their late father with some wonderful childhood flashback images as part of Australian Father’s Day. The photos were posted on Bindi’s Instagram account.
Robert, age 18, posted a picture on social media of Steve holding him when he was a baby and wrote: “Today is Father’s Day in Australia, and I want those who are mourning the loss of their father to know that they are in my thoughts and prayers. I have a lot of fond memories of the moments I was able to spend with my dad, and I am thankful that I am able to carry on his name and his legacy.”
“Because you were such an amazing parent, Grandpa Crocodile, I have no doubt that you would have been the world’s greatest grandpa. We are grateful to you for being such a wonderful angel of protection for Grace “Bindi, who is 24 years old, captioned a picture of herself cradling a newborn crocodile as she and her father were seated on a boat.
In March of 2017, she and her husband Chandler Powell became parents for the first time to their daughter Grace Warrior. Grace is now 17 months old. The year 2020 saw the pair exchange their vows.
Bindi had previously indicated that Grace’s middle names are a memorial to her grandpa, who passed away in 2006 at the age of 44 as a result of a sting from a stingray. Grace was named after her grandfather.
On Instagram, she penned the following caption: “Our lovely warrior is the most beautiful light.” “My great-grandmother, as well as other ancestors in Chandler’s family who can be traced back to the 1700s, inspired the naming of Grace.
“Her middle names, Warrior Irwin, are a homage to my dad and his history as the world’s most outstanding Wildlife Warrior,” Bindi Irwin, daughter of Steve and Terri Irwin, said. Bindi said, “her family name is Powell, and she already has such a kind spirit just like her father had.”
What the heck! Previously, the star of It’s the Irwins spoke with People magazine about the ways in which she and her husband honor Steve’s memory for their daughter.
In May, she shared her thoughts by stating, “We have so many films of Dad, and we’re continually showing them for Grace.” “It is really entertaining to see her focus on him. I had no idea how much her interest is piqued by her father’s zest for life and his dynamic facial expressions; to put it another way, she is enthralled by them.
Bindi added: “There is no doubt that Grace inherited some of her father’s traits. His resoluteness, as well as his inability to remain sedentary. That strikes me as being of very high significance. As she gets older, I can’t wait to see the changes that take place in her personality. To tell you the truth, if Dad were here, we would never see her again. He would have feelings for her.”
In the past, on the occasion of their 30th anniversary, which took place in June, Terri Irwin paid homage to Steve by writing: “I tied the knot with this amazing guy exactly 30 years ago today. What a thrilling experience! Love and legacy both last forever.”
