When her son, Cody Gifford, celebrated his 33rd birthday as a first-time dad on March 22, 2023, with his newborn boy Frankie in his arms, Kathie Lee Gifford was one ecstatic mother. Cody Gifford was Kathie Lee Gifford’s only child. When the grandma of 69 years old uploaded a snapshot of the father and son on her Instagram account, she raved over them both.
In May of 2022, Cody and Erika became parents to Frank Michael “Frankie” Gifford. Frankie Gifford is Kathie Lee’s first granddaughter, and she was named after Frank Gifford, Kathie Lee’s late husband. 2015 was the year of the deceased American football player and television sports analyst who had reached the age of 84.
Kathie Lee joyfully announced on Twitter in December 2021 that she does not care about the gender of her first grandchild since she would be over the “blue or pink moon” with the upcoming arrival of the baby. This was said when she was anticipating the birth of her first grandchild. The excitement that comes with being a grandmother for the very first time may be overpowering, and Kathie Lee has said that she talks to her grandson on FaceTime every single day.
When asked about the moment she found out she would be a grandma, Kathie Lee remembered it. The television personality said that Cody and Erika gave her a gift as she prepared for her book tour during an appearance she made on the “Today Show” in October 2022. The gift was a photograph of Frankie’s ultrasound that was encased in a picture frame and with the inscription “Can’t wait to meet you Grandmother” written on the opposite side of the frame. The ecstatic grandma said that it took her a while to realize what was going on, and that she went into a panic when she was hugging her daughter-in-law at the time.
Frankie has been an ever-present presence on his grandmother’s social media account ever since the day he was born. In February of 2023, Kathie Lee posted a photograph on her website that depicted Frankie reading a book. Supporters have observed that the infant seems to have inherited his father’s good features, and Frankie’s grandmother has concurred that her grandson resembles a miniature version of Cody.

Erika disclosed the fact that Cody had always been a kind and attentive parent. Throughout the time that his wife was pregnant, he was sure to accompany her to each and every doctor’s appointment, and he waited patiently in the vehicle for her whenever there were still restrictions in place at any and all medical facilities.
Erika paid homage to Cody on his birthday by writing a post in which she called him “the finest of the best in every aspect” and described him as a caring parent. She also shared a story about Cody’s godfather, who is 97 years old and stated that despite the fact that Kathie Lee’s son is the elder guy, he was someone he looked up to.
Even though Cody and Erika have a home in Connecticut, they split their time between that home and Kathie Lee’s property in Nashville. In Kathie Lee’s house, she has a roomy nursery for her grandson. Cody and Erika go back and forth between the two homes. In an interview with People, Kathie Lee’s grandma said that Erika, who is an interior designer, is responsible for setting up the nursery in the space that formerly belonged to Kathie Lee’s mother.
In addition to getting ready for the birth of her second grandson, Kathie Lee intended for this room to one day be used as a nursery for her own family. After making the news public in December 2022 that she was expecting a child with Ben Wierda, her daughter Cassidy Gifford will give birth to the couple’s first child some time in the middle of 2023.
