Since he was in his 20s, Sam West has been wowing hungry crowds all across the country with his sizzling dance routines.
He has performed all throughout the United States. His wife, Lisa, who shares his passion for dance, is an accomplished performer.
They have, as a group, been awarded and recognized with an impressively wide range of accolades and accomplishments in their individual areas of expertise.
Sam is a true master of the shag, which is often regarded as South Carolina’s state dance.
He started working on refining his dancing skills when he was nine years old and would practice the routines with his mother. Since then, he has dedicated a lot of time and energy to perfecting this dance.
It is possible to trace the origins of this highly stimulating art form back to dances such as the Little Apple and the Carolina Jitterbug. On the other hand, the shag may trace its origins all the way back to Africa.
It wasn’t until the 1960s that people started using the term “shag.” It wasn’t until the 1970s that people started holding competitions for shag dance.
Even the motion picture Shag, released in 1989 and starring Phoebe Cates and Bridget Fonda, was inspired on the trend.
At the National Shag Dancing Championships, Sam and his daughter Sydney had a performance that was nothing short of spectacular for both the crowd and the judges. It is unmistakable why they were able to outperform their rivals.
