Architects in the hills above the Negrar di Valpolicella neighborhood in northeast Italy made an exciting discovery – a Roman mosaic hidden beneath an Italian farm near Verona. This treasure was found at the same location where the ruins of an ancient villa were unearthed over a century ago.
Archaeologists believe that the intricate flooring could have been part of the building that was uncovered after many unsuccessful years of searching.
Specialists are currently figuring out the safest method to unearth the detailed mosaic floor, which is thought to originate from the 3rd century AD.

The excavation work on the site came to a halt in 1922, but last summer, a team from the Superintendent of Archaeology, Fine Arts, and Landscape of Verona resumed the project.
The excavation was once again halted this year because of the coronavirus pandemic, but it has recently recommenced. Shortly after, an exhilarating discovery was uncovered. A tweet from archaeologist Myko Clelland, who stumbled upon the finding online, has now become widely popular.
