Sydney Sweeney Reveals Her Dad And Grandpa Walked Out After Watching Her In X-Rated Role

While many parents are supportive of their children’s careers, there are definitely some boundaries they won’t cross. If you’ve watched Euphoria, you know it’s packed with intense themes like drug use and sex, making it the kind of show most people would avoid watching with their parents.

But what happens when your child is one of the stars?

This was the situation Sydney Sweeney’s family found themselves in.Sweeney plays a character who has several explicit scenes in the hit HBO series, and while she’s now a rising star in Hollywood, her role in Euphoria came with its own challenges.

She even had to fight harder to land other roles that were different from what people had seen her do on the show.

Speaking to Variety, Sweeney said: “It’s the ones I have to fight for that usually are the ones that I want that are different, like Reality.”I had to audition for it. I had to put myself on tape and send in my audition just like everybody else.”

She went on to explain how she faced similar struggles when auditioning for White Lotus.

Although she had to convince casting directors to see beyond her HBO role, Sweeney’s risqué scenes in Euphoria made it hard for some of her family members to even watch the show.During an interview on Sunday Today With Willie Geist, Sweeney revealed how her family reacted to her role in the show.

While her mom was more aware of the storyline, some family members, including her dad, were caught off guard.

“My mom visited me on set at the time, so she knew the story and I talked to her a lot about it—my dad didn’t,” she admitted. “Yeah, I didn’t prepare my dad. At all.”Because of this, her dad ended up watching the show without much of a heads-up—and with some other family members. He had no idea what was coming.

“I mean, how do you bring it up in conversation?” she joked. “And also, when I talk to my dad, it’s usually not about work.

“We talk, like, father-daughter conversations. He decided he was going to watch it, without telling me, with his parents.”As you might expect, not everyone stuck around for the whole thing.

“My dad and my grandpa turned it off and walked out,” Sweeney shared.
