A Netflix miniseries has recently gained fresh attention after being uncovered through a ‘secret code,’ and it’s quickly become a fan favorite.
The TV show boasts a perfect 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
It was discovered by exploring Netflix’s ‘music genre category,’ which triggered the algorithm to surface lesser-known titles, according to MailOnline.
Viewers using this method stumbled upon the series and were soon captivated by its smart structure and compelling performances.
Viewers praised the series on social media, calling it ‘riveting’ and ‘a must-see.’
One reviewer wrote: “It starts out like a conventional biopic but culminates with a critical look at the industry.”
Another added: “While modernist in its methods, the series smoothly and intelligently weaves its stories into an enlightening whole.”

Critical reception has also been generally positive. On Rotten Tomatoes, it holds a 100% approval rating based on six critic reviews, with an average rating of 6.3 out of 10.
Tom Goodwyn of TechRadar awarded the show 5 out of 5 stars, praising its writing, direction, and standout performances, particularly highlighting the storytelling structure as the series’ greatest asset.
Similarly, Joel Keller of Decider applauded the cast, with special mention of Janice Kamya Kavander, while noting some repetition in the narrative.
Not all critics were fully convinced. Mike McCahill of Variety offered a harsher take, comparing it unfavorably to David Fincher’s The Social Network, arguing that it lacked ‘anything like the electric thrill of the Fincher film.’
Despite varied opinions, the show has resonated with a wide audience.
As one viewer summed up: “The Playlist is near perfect… It captures the ills of the tech industry, the joy, the fallout, and the many, many people that go into one success.”

The show is based on the investigative book Spotify Untold, and dramatizes the rise of the global music-streaming giant Spotify.
The six-part drama follows Swedish entrepreneur Daniel Ek, played by Edvin Endre, alongside his co-founder Martin Lorentzon (Christian Hillborg), as they set out to disrupt the traditional music industry with a revolutionary platform.
Each episode is told from the viewpoint of a different character involved in Spotify’s creation, including coders, business leaders, artists, and lawyers, giving viewers a rich, layered understanding of the company’s controversial evolution.
Originally released in October 2022, The Playlist also holds a 7.4 rating on IMDb.
