Jennifer Aniston shared a heartbreaking tribute to her father, who died at 89

John Aniston, widely known for his role as Victor Kiriakis on “Days of Our Lives,” died on Friday, his famous daughter Jennifer Aniston said Monday on Instagram. He was 89.

On “11/11,” the “Friends” star noted that her father had “great timing.” Veterans Day was on Friday. John Aniston served in the United States Navy.

“That number will forever carry much more significance for me now,” she explained. “I’ll cherish you till the end of time.” “Don’t forget to stop by.”

John Aniston was born Yannis Anastassakis in Crete, Greece, and moved to Pennsylvania with his family when he was a toddler. He’s been a regular on the NBC soap opera since 1970, first as Eric Richards and then as Kiriakis since 1985. As of 2021, he was still playing the role. On “Days of Our Lives,” Aniston appears in almost 2,000 episodes, according to IMBD.

The legendary actor received the Lifetime Achievement Award for his 37-year portrayal of Kiriakis during the Daytime Emmys in June. In a pre-recorded portion, Jennifer Aniston presented the award to her father, describing him as “a great icon in the daytime television industry.”

“For almost 30 years, his devotion to that program has earned him the respect and admiration of his fellow performers, close friendships, and delighted millions of fans worldwide,” the “Friends” alum stated. “His career is a textbook example of lifetime accomplishment.”

Jennifer Aniston recently addressed how her parents’ divorce “truly messed her up” in her December Allure cover story. The actress remarked on her previously alienated connection with her mother, “I forgive my mom.” I had forgiven my father. “My family has been pardoned.”

“That bitterness, that rage, is toxic.” I learned this by watching my mother never let go. “Thank you for showing me what was never to be,” I remember saying, “she remembered.” “That’s what I mean by trying to find areas in our lives to respect the darker things that happen in our lives, the not-so-happy times, because of what they’ve given to us,” I said.
