Sir Tom Jones agrees to perform “It’s not unusual” impromptu after being asked by The Voice coaches…

Although the Welsh singer Tom Jones is well-known throughout the world, his hit song “It’s Not Unusual” may be even more well-known. The singer, who is a coach on The Voice UK right now, was encouraged to perform the song for the audience by other coaches Meghan Trainor, Olly Murs, and will.i.am.

Olly Murs asks Tom when his career began during the opening of the episode on the well-known singing competition program. When Tom confesses that he only had 24 years old at the time he recorded “It’s Not Unusual,” the audience bursts into applause. The song quickly rose to the top of the UK charts.

Then he adds more details, revealing that he knew the song would be a hit and that Sandie Shaw was the original intended performer. Shaw argued that the song belonged to him and that he should release it after hearing Tom’s demo recording.

Olly Murs quips that he hasn’t heard the song in a while in an effort to persuade Tom to sing, and Meghan Trainor joins in by yelling, “Sing it!” Fortunately, Tom is easily persuaded, and soon he is holding a microphone and acting for the crowd like a true professional.

Tom’s performance demonstrates that he still possesses the vocal prowess that once made him famous at the age of 79. The audience went wild and was up dancing and singing along in no time, while it seemed like his colleagues coaches were enjoying the spontaneous serenade.

The singer, whose real name is Thomas John Woodward but who has always gone by the stage name Tom Jones, was knighted in 2006 and is now known as Sir Tom Jones. The singer’s outstanding voice, dubbed by All Music as a “full-throated, strong baritone,” is one that is very memorable and has a knack for fusing many musical genres, including soul, R’n’B, pop, and even country. What was the highlight of Tom’s The Voice performance? that a younger audience is now hearing his songs.
