On Friday morning, a tragic accident took place in São Paulo, Brazil. A small plane crashed into a bus on a busy highway, causing a massive explosion. The crash resulted in two deaths and six injuries.
The incident happened at around 7:20 a.m. local time. The plane, a King Air F90, had taken off just five minutes earlier but quickly ran into trouble.
The pilot attempted an emergency landing, but unfortunately, the plane struck the back of a bus on Marques de São Vicente Avenue. The impact caused a huge explosion, sending flames and debris across the road.
Eyewitnesses described the terrifying moment. One witness, Genival Dantas Arraes, told reporters that the plane was destroying palm trees and signs before it hit the bus. “It exploded immediately. Everyone was paralyzed,” he said.
Another witness, Adriano Rolim, explained that many cars managed to swerve out of the way just in time. “The pilot tried to land, but the plane hit the back of the bus and exploded. The impact was huge, very scary,” he added.

Videos of the accident quickly spread online. One video, posted by StoryfulNews, showed thick smoke and flames rising from the crash site. Firefighters arrived quickly and worked hard to control the fire. Thanks to their efforts, they were able to stop the flames from spreading further.
Inside the plane, two people lost their lives. Authorities later identified them as the aircraft’s owner, Mario Carpena, and the pilot, Gustavo Medeiros. Their bodies were found in the burned remains of the plane.
The explosion also injured six people. A woman on the bus and a motorcyclist were among those most severely hurt. Emergency teams rushed all the injured to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Sao Paulo Governor Tarcisio de Freitas expressed his condolences on social media. He also praised the fire department for their quick response, which helped prevent an even bigger tragedy. “Unfortunately, we begin this day with this tragic air accident in the capital of São Paulo,” he wrote.
The accident left many people in shock. While authorities continue to investigate what went wrong, the city mourns the loss of two lives and hopes for the recovery of those injured.
