Group of Amish men move entire building using only their brute strength

How much time do you think you need to move an entire shed to a new location? Some can say days, maybe weeks? But for this Amish community, let’s just say it was short enough to make you say “That’s it?”

This team of over a hundred men moved an entire structure intact. It just goes to show how far one can go when they have the community, literally and figuratively, lift them up.

Bill Lyons had the privilege of helping move a building with a team of Amish men.
The Amish have long been shrouded in mystery as they have no means of showing off their community. The Amish have shunned the use of technology except for extremely practical reasons. So having the chance to not only participate but film the entire process is just an opportunity too great to pass up.

Lyons was positioned in the middle of the formation. He is set to film the move from the interior. There’s also a drone operated standing outside to show us what the move looks like from above.

The Amish community gave them permission to use a camera as they expressed curiosity about the final product.

The move leader positions himself by the doorway as he hollers the directions to the group.
In one single lift, the building gets off the ground. The building looked so light because the team moved it with so much ease. It just goes to show that a lot can be achieved when people work together.

They first moved the house sideways perpendicular to the road. The move leader then adjusted the pace at which one section walked so that the building moved straight.

They placed the house in the middle of the road to prepare for the next phase.
The Amish even joked about just leaving the structure there. Can’t blame them, though. The structure will be used for a store so foot traffic is important.

Then, with another call, the house gets off the ground again and moves down the asphalt road. The walk was filled with conversations, comments, and a bit of laughter. It’s as if these men don’t even feel how heavy this shed is!

Lyons explained more in the comments.
He said that the building was built around 2015. The original owners, however, moved to another part of the country and left the building abandoned.

A neighbor wanted to build a leather harness shop and a tannery and thought that demolishing the building would be such a waste.

At first glance, moving a house with sheer manpower might be inconvenient, but given the logistics of digging for a wheel or driving in a crane, paying more than a hundred men with boxes of sheet pizza is a smart choice.

People in the comment section can’t help but be amazed.
“I wish we could all experience such a strong sense of community. Imagine getting up on a Saturday to go move a building with the boys! It looks like so much fun!” one comment said.

“Can one imagine what the world could be if we all worked with one another instead of against?” Said another, “A great example for the governments of the world, the sense of community and responsibility is beautiful!”
