There is startling news out of Plainfield, Illinois: according to many accounts, a 6-year-old boy was fatally stabbed.
Police assert that the child’s and his family’s Muslim faith served as the motivation. Wadea Al-Fayoume, the child’s name, is a Palestinian-American.
Their landlord Joseph Czuba attacked Al-Fayoume and his mother, Hanaan Shahin, 32. Shahin, who sustained terrible injuries during the incident, is still in the hospital.
The Will County Sheriff’s Office stated, “Detectives were able to determine that both victims in this brutal attack were targeted by the suspect due to their Muslim faith and the ongoing Middle East conflict involving Hamas and the Israelis.”
After his son’s death, Al-Fayoume’s uncle spoke out on behalf of his family, stating, “He’s a 6-year-old kid.” He enjoys playing games just like any other 6-year-old child, according to Yousef.
“All I want to say to the world is that we are citizens of the United States of America.” We do not have a war going on, nor are we bringing one here.
Two days after her murder on October 16, Wadea was buried.
According to ABC News, Czuba was accused with first-degree murder after the authorities classified the horrific assault as a hate crime. Czuba is said to have attacked with a “military-style knife.”
Yousef thinks that the attack happened because of President Joe Biden’s pro-Israel views, although Biden has issued a statement denouncing the hate crime committed against the family.
“The child’s Muslim Palestinian family came to America in search of what all of us seek: a safe haven where we can study, work, and pray in harmony. This terrible act of hatred is out of place in America and goes against one of our core ideals: the ability to practise our religion without fear and the right to be who we are and how we worship.
