9-year-old pleas to be adopted after brother was adopted without him

A 9-year-old boy in Oklahoma was recently interviewed by an Oklahoma television station, in which

he delivered a heart-wrenching plea to be adopted.
He expressed the pain of not having a family that only children in the foster system would know.

The young boy, Jordan, has been in foster care for six years.
That’s way too long for anyone let alone when it has been the majority of Jordan’s life!

My heart breaks for Jordan, no child deserves a life deprived of family…

Except something incredible happened.

Jordan’s interview went viral and changed his life!
His words were so authentic and heartwrenching, they reached the hearts of thousands, many of whom immediately sprang into action!

When asked where he would go if he could go anywhere he wanted in the entire world, he answered

“To an adoption party for a home.”

“I would just like to have a family to call mom and dad or just mom or just dad. I don’t really care. […] The reason it’s important is because

“so I could have some people to talk to anytime I need to.
“I hope one of y’all pick me.”

Jordan has been living in a group home, but he of course craves that regular life of a child with parents who he can go to with anything!

But only half a day after the interview aired, thousands of people called in looking to adopt Jordan!
His greatest wishes were answered. Literally! When asked what he would wish for with three wishes, Jordan simply answered:

“To have a family, and family, family. Those are the only wishes I have.”

But it’s not quite all sunshine and rainbows for Jordan just yet.

Three years ago, Jordan was interviewed once before except it was with his brother, Braison. At the time of the interview, the brothers were living in separate foster homes, and now?

Braison was adopted without his brother last year.
Now, the brothers don’t get to see each other very often.

Christopher Marlowe, Jordan’s Permanency Planning Worker, said that the Oklahoma Department of Human Services were hoping to get the brothers in closer proximity so that they can at least spend more time together.

“His brother’s adoptive family has been agreeable to that and even if things go well, they said they would be willing to take them out on day passes so they could spend some good quality time together.”

But Marlowe is hopeful that this is Jordan’s time to find his forever home with a good, loving family.

Afterall, Marlowe has to sort through 5000 applications to adopt Jordan now!

Needless to say, Jordan has been through so much in such a short time. Marlowe even added,

“Even for a child that’s been through custody, he’s been through a whole lot compared to most of our kids.”
The reason Marlowe is saying it that way is because the foster care system is notoriously difficult and even traumatic for children.

There are over 7000 kids in the foster care system in Oklahoma alone.

Despite the tragic story that Jordan has been living up to this point, things seem to finally be looking up for him. 5000 people looking to adopt him are pretty good odds, and hopefully his story has inspired people to adopt kids in the foster system in their own states as well!

We’re excited to see where Jordan’s life goes now and wish him only the best and utmost happiness.
