The reason GTA 6 trailer released one day early

The first trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI is officially here, though it did end up being released by Rockstar Games a day early.

There have been plenty of leaks when it comes to GTA VI, but we’ve gone years without anything officially being revealed about the game – until now.

They said: “We are extremely disappointed to have any details of our next game shared with you all in this way.

“Our work on the next Grand Theft Auto game will continue as planned and we remain as committed as ever to delivering an experience to you, our players, that truly exceeds your expectations.

“We will update everyone again soon and, of course, will properly introduce you to this next game when it is ready. We want to thank everyone for their ongoing support in this situation.”

And fast forward to the present day, the GTA VI trailer was released early because of, you guessed it, leaks.

On Monday (December 4), leaked versions of the trailer kept on popping up on social media.

It didn’t matter how many versions were shut down, more kept popping up.

Rockstar eventually decided to upload the official version on YouTube, allowing fans to enjoy the trailer in full high definition.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, the official Rockstar Games account penned: “Our trailer has leaked so please watch the real thing on YouTube.”

As for the trailer itself, that showcased the ever-expected Vice City for the very first time, with a modern twist compared to 2002’s Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.

While the fictionalized depiction of Miami certainly took centre stage, fans also got to see a lot of the series’ first female protagonist, Lucia.

And it’s fair to say gamers have had a long wait for the sixth mainline instalment in the franchise.
