In contrast, Freeman told Fox News in 2016 that he was inspired by Burt Lancaster’s golden earrings from the 1952 film The Crimson Pirate.
“I thought that was sexy.” Then I discovered that sailors would wear gold earrings to assist pay for their burials if they died in a remote location. “It’s ideal for me because I’m a sailor,” Freeman added.
