It is always incredibly scary to think that tragedy can strike at any minute. As a parent, your worse fear might be something happening to your child.
This family had to endure a nightmare for months on end, but thankfully their story ended positively!
16-year-old Kaylee Jones went missing on June 14 near Whooping Creek Church Road in Carrollton. After her sudden disappearance, her entire community rallied together to find the missing teenager.
Her parents reported that the young girl had snuck out of her home’s second-story window without her computer or phone; both items which had been confiscated by her parents. Her parents had confiscated her electronic items after they caught her talking to strangers online.
The Jones family had moved to Carrollton from Florida just a year before. The family feared the young girl had potentially met someone online, who might have groomed her and might be behind her disappearance.
Her parents worried as their daughter had special needs and had gone months without her daily prescription medication!
While she was missing, her parents were beside themselves with worry. Her father talked to the press at the time and said, “Has she been sex trafficked? We don’t know,” her father Daniel said. That is the worst, the absolute worst part of the whole ordeal. There’s no way to help her. There’s no way to protect her, just nothing.”
Deputies looking after the case said they followed several leads for months but nothing panned out. However, now after 5 months of being missing, Kaylee Jones has been found. Deputies who were assigned the case said they were grateful the teenager had been found.
Further details about the disappearance have not been made public because of the obvious sensitive nature of the case as it concerns a minor.
We are so glad that Kaylee is back home safe and sound with her family again. They really went through a heartbreaking ordeal but hopefully, all will be right again!
