There are a ton of people out there who prove the saying, “age is just a number,” to be true. If you watch shows like “Britain’s Got Talent,” then you’ll know that there are little kids who are extremely talented at singing things like opera — something we associate with experiences, adult singers. But, these tiny humans don’t let their young age stop them.
The same goes for someone who is a lot older. Have you seen people in the 70s and 80s jamming out to their favorite song like it’s nobody’s business? I have, and I love it! These types of grans and gramps know how to have fun with no care in the world for how long they are. As long as they’re functional, healthy, and safe, they’re enjoying life to the fullest!
Enter 80-year-old Janey Cutler. In 2010, Janey auditioned for “Britain’s Got Talent.” We’re sure a lot of people were wondering what she could be doing there on audition day. This question is one of the first that the judges even posed. As the woman takes her spot on stage, Simon exchanges the usual pleasantries and asks, “Janey, why have you auditioned for the show?” In response, Janey says, “Well, I like singing, so my friend says go for it!” The crowd cheers as she laughs. The judges then wish her luck, and off she goes singing “No Regrets.”
The audience is instantly cheering, and as she moves forward with her performance, even the judges are extremely impressed. They’re smiling wide, probably thinking where this voice is coming from inside Janey! They’re off their seats before the act even comes to an end, and we’re sure that this reaction was making the woman so happy. It sure made my day watching that epic response from the audience and judges! It’s hard to get Simon out of his chair, and Janey was able to do so before her song came to an end.
I’m glad this 80-year-old grandma was encouraged by her friends to audition, “Britain’s Got Talent” needed her!
Janey says that she is thankful that she’s here tonight, right before she gets 3,003 yeses! It’s true what she said right at the beginning of this video; it’s better late than never!
