When Andrea Bocelli and his son Matteo released their first English/Italian hit, “Fall On Me,” the world was taken aback. We all know how fabulously talented the tenor is and we’ve watched and listened to him for the entire duration of his outstanding career. What came as a wonderful surprise was that his son, in his own right, is remarkably talented as well.
Matteo is a budding talent who only recently started working alongside his dad, having already proved he’s got the musical chops to keep up. The young man has been playing piano for years and with just one listen to his voice, you know he’s got the capacity to back it up.
The dazzling duo is now reprising their hit “Fall On Me” for the upcoming Disney holiday blockbuster, “The Nutcracker and the Four Realms,” a fantastical spin on an old Christmas classic, delightfully re-imagined and modernized. It’s about a girl who must follow a golden thread into a magical world and find the key that unlocks a box containing a priceless gift.
While the film’s roots are traditional, this venture is still risky. But, to ensure its success (after watching the trailer, I can’t imagine how it wouldn’t be&), Disney has put together one heck of a soundtrack. And what better way to up the ante than to include none other than Andrea and Matteo!
This video is a great juxtaposition of clips from the film and scenes from the father-son duo’s original music video. The wacky and wild elements of the movie with all of its color, motion and characters’ facial expressions set amidst elaborate, foreign settings is a nice contrast against the stark industrial setting of Andrea and Matteo calmly seated at their pianos. The two have their backs facing each other while singing and playing the haunting and emotional song. It’s a musical journey that showcases Andrea and Matteo’s voices to perfection, taking audiences on an emotional roller coaster through the feelings of love and loss, enchantment and trust. The pair is sensational! Their harmonizing is flawless and sounds as magical as the clips from the film appear to be. This looks like a totally incredible movie, and I can’t wait to see it!
