A black bear interrupts a family picnic to enjoy a nice peanut butter sandwich.

The cute look on the bear’s face while sniffing the peanut butter is too adorable to ignore.

What are the items on your checklist to take to a park picnic?

Who would you invite to join the picnic?

We always provide a variety of foods and beverages to ensure that everyone who has been invited has plenty to enjoy.

One family thought of a unique picnic experience. To accomplish it, they went to the Deep Creek in Maryland.

But eventually, an unexpected visitor joined them.

It was a big black bear, interested in the peanut butter in their picnic baskets.

The black bear lurked in the thick forest until it smelled the delicious peanut butter. Then the bear found its way to the picnic table with the help of the smell of peanut butter.

This black bear was a familiar sight to villagers, who frequently see it wandering in the same region.

The bears seldom approach guests, except in this case.

It was the Bears’ territory.

They slathered peanut butter all over a slice of toast which they could offer to the bear since they knew he was coming closer for some.

The family hastened to prepare more sandwiches for the bear after seeing it devour the first sandwich.

Actually, it was more of a fun moment than a scary one. And for the bear, it was an absolutely great day.

While the clip is amusing, the family in it is extremely fortunate that the bear did not harm them.

Since black bears have become accustomed to living in wooded regions near urban areas, bears are less likely to attack people.

However, the bears know how to conceal themselves when searching in trash bins for food.

They even sneak into people’s houses and loot entire refrigerators without noticing.

Anyway, the Maryland Department of Natural Resources wasn’t pleased after watching this clip. It was because feeding bears is actually prohibited. If you’re wondering why? Let me provide a valid explanation for this.

For starters, we can’t exactly say how the bear will react in the company of a human. The bears might be friendly, or they might harm. Therefore, it’s better to either avoid it or frighten it away.

Another reason is bears getting used to being fed by people.

People would eventually feed the bears and leave. The problem is that the bears could get used to it, which will result in them anticipating humans to provide them food.

And what would happen if someone fails to provide food?

“Having a bear in the campground might cause issues which will last even after you leave.” “The life of the bear and the human involved may be threatened if such situations grow critical,” the Maryland Department of Natural Resources cautioned.

They offered the following advice:

Try to carry tinned and dry foods instead of peanut butter to reduce smells. If you spot a bear around, immediately move to a different location.

If the bear keeps following you, try to frighten it away.

Smash cooking utensils or shout or scream until the bear runs away. And if the bear still refuses to depart, you should vacate the area.

However, leaving the site is the smartest decision to make in such situations because risking your life for a picnic isn’t worth it.
