Mom of rare twins with Down syndrome show how beautiful and precious they are to shut down critics

Between 1980 and 2018, the chances of having twins rose by 72%, although they are still considered uncommon. Approximately 33 out of every 1,000 births result in twins.

It’s not very common, but there are about three or four sets of identical twins for every 1,000 births.

Savannah Combs, a young woman of 23, was filled with joy when she found out that she was going to have twins. To her surprise, both of them were diagnosed with Down syndrome, making it an even more unique and special experience for her.

Of course, the news was quite distressing. Savannah and Justin Ackerman knew that certain individuals would pass judgment on them and their kids because of their situation.

However, Savannah sees their worth due to this.

“They have something very special, something rare, but to me, they are like precious gems,” she shared with News4JAX.

Savannah, a native of Middleburg, Florida, shared her postpartum journey on TikTok along with her adorable kids, Kennadi Rue and Mckenli Ackerman. The videos quickly gained popularity and captured the hearts of many.

In one of her videos, Savannah mentioned that she received advice to terminate her pregnancy as her children were not expected to survive.

She decided to keep them and give them a chance.

Savannah expressed that each prenatal appointment they attended was a true blessing to her.

She discovered they both had Down syndrome while her partner was away at boot camp.

When Savannah was admitted to the hospital, she was in her 29th week of pregnancy and delivered twin daughters. There were many other things happening during that time, and the list goes on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on.

The twins had to stay in the NICU for a couple of weeks before they could go home since they arrived two months ahead of schedule.

“They are referred to as mono di twins, which means they each had their own sacs but shared the same placenta. This indicates that they were going to be identical,” she explained.

Having twins is already rare, but adding Down syndrome on top of that makes it even more unique – like one in 2 million!

Savannah mentioned that despite their uncommon condition, they are just as ordinary as any other child.

“They possess emotions. They possess a pulsating heart. They possess the ability to communicate. They possess the ability to perform tasks just like you. They will reach their destination,” she expressed.

As I mentioned earlier, they might be a bit slower, but they will definitely get it done. I’ve discovered that these children are full of energy and joy.

Savannah loves to share the adorable updates of each child as they reach their milestones on TikTok.

I will make sure to remind them that they are capable of achieving anything as long as they believe in themselves.

Despite this, there are individuals who find it necessary to critique Savannah and her family. Consequently, the young mother has been forced to respond to some truly insensitive individuals on social media.

One individual expressed their opinion to the mother, stating, “If my babies looked like that, I would definitely consider putting them up for adoption.”

Savannah shared the perfect response on Facebook.

It’s a relief that these babies were born to me and not to you. I truly believe that God chose the perfect parents to love and care for them.

Beautiful ladies. Anyone who claims otherwise is simply being unkind. These individuals are the most valuable and compassionate ones out there! Please help share this heartwarming story on Facebook.
